Maelspikes can be found in the underwater caves on Mt. Gagazet. But it’s actually recommended to capture one of these fiends, and then farm (bribe) them repeatedly from the Monster Arena, just to simplify the process.
What Are Attribute Spheres?
These spheres are a wonderful little orb that can activate any other attribute node that has already been activated by another party member on the sphere grid. For example, if Auron has activated a Luck +4 node, then Rikku can use an Attribute Sphere to activate that same node for her own benefit. The best part is that using an Attribute Sphere requires no movement! Just select which node you’d like to activate and boom, done. And if you want to, Rikku can also use Attribute Spheres in her mixes. Here are some of the more fun results: Chaos Grenade (Musk + Attribute Sphere): Deals exceptionally large damage to all enemies, as well as inflicting Full Break, Slow, Poison, Darkness, Silence, and Sleep. True chaos! Super Mighty G (Chocobo Feather + Attribute Sphere): Applies Haste, Protect, Shell, and Regen to the whole party. Hyper Mana (Mana Tonic + Attribute Sphere): Casts Focus on the party and doubles their max MP for the battle.
Are Attribute Spheres Worth Farming?
It depends on what you’re going to use them for, and if your time is worth more than your gil. Some attributes, such as Luck, require farming enemies that have long drawn-out battles – which makes the farm take quite a long time. Attribute Spheres cost 200,000 gil each, but are much quicker to obtain. It really is up to you whether or not spending the money is more efficient than grinding other means to activate nodes. Attribute Spheres are in that unique position where they come from a common enemy, and they don’t cost too much for bribes, compared to other special spheres in FFX.
