The best way to increase your survival time and damage output against this boss is to stick close behind his back — no matter if you’re using a ranged or a melee character. You will not be able to avoid most of his telegraphed AoE attacks, but the most important thing is that you stay out of his cleaving normal attacks.

How To Beat Flame Knight (Tips)
Here are four of the most useful tips that you need to follow if you and your fellow Kingdom members want to kill the Flame Knight as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Tip #1: Use The Recommended Element (Water)
Equipping water-element weapons and Familiars before battling the Flame Knight is highly recommended — even if they’re not the strongest ones your character has. You will deal significantly more damage with an underpowered water-element weapon compared to your strongest earth-element or fire-element weapon, for example. Take advantage of the Flame Knight’s weakness and don’t forget to also equip water-element Special Skills for additional damage output!
Tip #2: Watch Your Positioning
For all classes — ranged or melee — the best position to stay in and attack is in the back of the Flame Knight. The closer you are to him, the better, since you’ll be able to dodge his cleaving normal attacks much more easily whenever he turns around. If you’re the aggro-taker (the highest-scoring player that the boss most often attacks), however, the best thing you can do is to keep the boss facing away from your other teammates. Also, try to lure the boss back into the center of the map whenever he charges around the edge with one of his telegraphed attacks. Your teammates will find it easier to deal damage with more space.
Tip #3: Avoid Telegraphed Attacks
Most of Flame Knight’s AoE attacks are very hard to avoid, so it’s unavoidable that you’re going to have to face-tank some of them. Although, the ones you’ll absolutely want to avoid are the “Ring of Fire” attack where you can’t enter or exit a specific range around the boss, and the “Wave of Fire” attack which pushes you away. You’ll also get burned by some of Flame Knight’s telegraphed attacks, and this is why Tip #4 is very important.
Tip #4: Destroy Sealed Water Spirit Statues To Cure Burns
While you’re battling the Flame Knight, there will be statues that spawn all over the place — just like the one highlighted in the image above. These are called Sealed Water Spirit Statues, and destroying them provides an AoE healing effect that cures all burn effects in a small area. Do not attack or destroy any of them unless absolutely necessary! Turn off your Auto Mode while attacking these statues, as they are destroyed based on hit counts and not damage. This means that your skills — unless they have high hit counts like the Rogue’s Arrow Rain skill — are pretty much useless while you’re attacking them.
