The footage surfaced on Reddit from ForeverDexus, who’s post allegedly reveals that the game was originally supposed to have a single-player campaign, and the development team had made substantial progress. The footage itself is clearly from the early development stages but provides insight into what could have been.
ForeverDexus didn’t reveal where their information came from, but they stated that it took them “a few hours of digging” and “if you’re able to find the source, the rest of the videos are there.”
The footage contains a UI similar to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s multiplayer UI, which was heavily built around the idea of playing as specific operator classes. You can see the leaked footage below:
Developer, Treyarch, originally stated that they had no intention of incorporating a single-player campaign in Black Ops 4, though this footage seems to indicate the opposite. As mentioned, this is very early gameplay and lacks the detail of previous Call of Duty campaigns, but the UI adds legitimacy to its origins.
There’s no official word from Treyarch on the footage as of yet, but we’ll be sure to update if any announcement from the developers is made. For more Call of Duty news and guides on the immensely popular Call of Duty: Warzone, be sure to check our dedicated hub page.
